How to choose a Toothbrush

It can be intimidating to stand in a toothbrush aisle with so many options. Choosing a toothbrush will be a breeze with these pointers! What to Look for in a Toothbrush 1. The toothbrush head should be 1/2 inch wide, 1 inch tall, and have a long enough handle to hold comfortably while brushing your teeth for most adults. Anything larger will make it harder to reach your molars, and anything smaller will likely not clean your teeth as well. 2. Toothbrushes are available in three bristle types: soft, medium, and hard. The best and safest option is to use nylon bristles. Bristles with a medium or rough texture can sometimes do more harm than good! Brushing your teeth with these harsher bristles might harm your gums and enamel, depending on how hard you brush. 3. Bristles are also available in a variety of shapes and sizes, including rounded and straight. Rounded bristles are safer since they don't have sharp edges that can harm your gums, increasing your risk of infect...

Why do people think BDS is not good?

Why do people think BDS is not good?

(Why people think like that ):-》

I think this is because of lack of awareness and knowledge.. also because of mentality people have.. me myself used to think that BDS has no scope especially in our country.. and it takes a lot of money to open up a clinic or to settle down .

(Benefits):-》

But after joining a dental college..I've come to know about the importance of this course and how vast it is.. it has got eight branches ,mainly:—

1. Public health dentistry (or community dentistry ,for various surveys, to ensure proper general health and well being of people in short)

2.OMR ( Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology ,for diagnosis of various diseases and health related issues, for examining the radiographic features on radiographs (x-rays ).)

3. pedodontics ( branch of dentistry to deal especially with oral well being of infants, children and adolescents)

4.conservative ,operative and endodontics ( to deal with any carious( decayed) tooth, sensitivity in tooth etc .

5. Periodontics( dealing with the cleanliness of tooth ,dealing with the tooth and tooth related other structure like gingiva( gums) ,various ligaments and fibres (periodontal ligaments and fibres) ,jaw bone( alveolar bone ) etc.

6.O.P (oral and maxillofacial pathology, basically dealing with the microscopic view, structure of normal oral or maxillofacial tissues and any abnormality in those, basically for histopathological diagnostic purposes)

7.O.S(oral and maxillofacial surgery ,dealing with surgical procedures, extraction of tooth etc.)

8. Prosthodontics ( dealing basically with prosthesis ( an artificial object in replacement of the natural one like teeth ,nose ,eye etc. )).

•one more part is there but it is not exactly a separate branch right now .. (not considered as a separate branch by ADA yet but planning is under process for considering it as 9th branch ) and that is Cosmetic Dentistry And implantology ) although, such procedure like smile designing, bleaching (teeth whitening) ,implants etc. are also done in other branches of dentistry also like endo and prostho respectively.

So, it's not just confined to teeth or your oral cavity ( mouth ) only but also to your systemic ,defects, diseases and disorders.. and one of the best facility is the maxillofacial prosthesis… the dental practitioners are taught and trained about this…these are for those who have lost some organs like eyes, finger, nose, ear etc due to some trauma ,disease or if missing congenitally..and these treatments are less expensive and more safe as compared to plastic surgeries.. moreover.. the treatment which a dental practitioner can provide u for ur dental and dental related problems that can not be provide by a medical practitioner.. same goes with treatment provided by a medical practitioner.. so every field have it's own important..

● Moreover,it makes u look good ,for example if you are having a protruded jaw or retrograde jaw that will make u look bad this can be treated by orthodontists (a dental practitioner specialized in making your jaw relation correct and correcting aesthetics and functional defects and problems especially due to incorrect development and growth or positioning of tooth or jaw)

● Provide u a new set of teeth (complete denture /FPD/RPD) when u lose your teeth due to old age or any trauma because when a person is missing one or more teeth ,the mouth functionalities and aesthetics are compromised. The patient cannot speech or eat well and he or she doesn’t feel comfortable with his or her appearance. In such situations, only a dental practitioner (prosthodontist) can help you out.

● Helps in understanding the psychology of human beings.. children ( pedodontics).. the type cry of the child, reason behind the different sounds a child makes, fear of child, how to deal with it and how to take care of children ,knowing child psychology .. their mentality well.. this is one of the most interesting parts of dentistry( specially for me.. )

● Dentistry is like studying 8 subjects .. becoming knowledgeable about the 8 courses (like pharmacy, human psychology, Radiology etc.) in just 5 years ..

■ Role in FORENSIC SCIENCE AND INVESTIGATIONS :-》

• I forgot to mention .. there is one more thing which is very interesting .. apart from these branches and their benefits to our health and our body ..our lives.. dentistry also plays a very remarkable role in FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS.

• in some cases like post mortem examination, in cases of disputes and assaults.. dentistry plays a very crucial role in determining the age ,sex etc of individual..

• like in some cases where the person is buried after murder .. we can get the DNA from its tooth ( remnants of pulp( pulp is a soft tissue or u can say a mass of a tissue inside the tooth ,the red -red bleeding part we see when our primary teeth or milk teeth shed off .. that is the pulp )) ..

• in cases of sexual assault, bite Marks ( teeth marks on biting) we can use.. in case of disputes that if a person is claiming that the other person bit him/her so in such cases u can match the bite Marks with person who is blamed.. u can also tell by examining that the bite marks are of any animal or a human..

● like that only ,lip marks, tongue marks, other investigatory procedures .. these can be done by a dental practitioner only.. so forensic science and investigation itself is a very interesting topic.. and dental science there also plays a very important role..

Rest ,almost every field is saturated now a days ,hardwork and dedication is needed everywhere to be successful .. and u can make a lot of money with this profession also.. the only need is to increase your knowledge, your awareness about this field and understanding it's importance and be optimistic… rest is upto u ,ur point of view and how u take it ..

I hope this satisfied you.. thank you. God bless you :)
